Title: Ultra Sound DI Plus
Post by: sweetthing on April 02, 2011, 06:45:01 PM
Hello all I am new to the forum so bear with me. First of all I wasn't sure if I should post this in Bass Gear or Sound.  It is kind of both actually.

Anyway, I play at church through a DI box to the PA and have a standard stage monitor(which usually sounds bad).  At our last practice it sounded exceptionally bad but I tried not to worry about it because I know it sounds totally different through the PA.  One of the sound guys asked me how my bass sounded to me and I told them(politely) that is was the worst I have ever heard.  It was to the point that it wasn't even fun to play.  Again, I usually just grin and bear it.  So my question is, would this help with getting a good tone from my bass.  I don't know what kind of DI I am playing through currently but it's nothing fancy.  It basically has an input and out put.

Oh wow, I feel dumb. Just realized this is for acoustic guitar. javascript:void(0); If anyone has any other suggestions I would appreciate it.

I use a Hartke Bass Attack for a DI.  Check it out:

I recommend an Eden WTDI - I have run direct for years, and I love it. $149 street. I also use a BBE DI100x that I really like. I think they go for about $100

Okay, I have switched my "ampless" rig to a Markbass compressore into a Radial JDI. works great. Our volunteer sound gal never could tame the Eden WTDI.

Tech 21's Sansamp line is pretty good stuff, too.  My GK and Line 6 combos have DI ports, but I use the Sansamp programmable bddi when I'm plugged into my Peavey combo that doesn't have a built in DI. Lets me use the amp as my stage monitor. Works well.  Never tried just the PBDDI and IEMs, but I understand that works well, too.

I know it been a long time when this was posted, but...  I use a Sansamp VT Bass Deluxe  It does incredible things for the tone going to the FOH.  It makes my Ampeg 3Pro sound even better as well as FOH.

I've used it by itself when lightening killed my head and my tone was still right on the money.  It's literally an amp in a box if you are looking for that Ampeg sound.  I'd never leave home without it.
