Is there a song that just sends chills down your spine and makes the hair on your neck stand? Is there a song that brings a tear to your eye and makes you want to life your hands in praise and thanksgiving to Him?

Share em with us.

For me, it is You Are My King (Amazing Love) by the Newsboys.

I'm forgiven, because you are forsaken
I'm accepted, you were condemned
I'm alive and well, your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again

This is really "old school" but, 25 years after his death, Keith Green still has stuff to say both to me and to the Church in general:

Do you see, do you see, all the people sinking down,
Don't you care, don't you care, are you gonna let them drown,
How can you be so numb, not to care if they come,
You close your eyes and pretend the job's done
.
Oh Bless me Lord, bless me Lord, you know it's all I ever hear,
No one aches, no one hurts, no one even sheds one tear,
But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds, and He cares for your needs,
And you just lay back and keep soaking it in, oh, can't you see it's such sin?

Cause He brings people to your door,
And you turn them away, as you smile and say,
God bless you, be at peace, and all Heaven just weeps,
Cause Jesus came to your door, you've left Him out on the streets.

Open up, open up, and give yourself away,
You've seen the need, you hear the cry, so how can you delay,
God's calling and you're the one, but like Jonah you run,
He's told you to speak, but you keep holding it in,
Oh, can't you see it's such sin?

The world is sleeping in the dark,
That the church can't fight, cause it's asleep in the light,
How can you be so dead, when you've been so well fed,
Jesus rose from the grave, and you, you can't even get out of bed,

Oh, Jesus rose from the dead, come on, get out of your bed.
How can you be so numb, not to care if they come,
You close your eyes and pretend the job's done,
You close your eyes and pretend the job's done,
Don't close your eyes, don't pretend the job's done.
Come away, come away, come away with Me, My love,
Come away, from this mess, come away with Me, My love.

This is called "Asleep in the Light". I've found some versions on YouTube that are pretty good.

For me there's a few different praise songs that can get me to that point.

The Potter's Hand

Beautiful Lord, Wonderful Saviour
I know for sure, all of my days are held in your hands,
crafted into your perfect plan

You gently call me into your presence
guiding me by Your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord to live all of my life
through Your eyes

I'm captured by Your holy calling
Set me apart, I know you're drawing me to yourself
Lead me Lord I pray

Take me, Mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the Potter's hand
Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

you gently call me into your presence guiding me by your holy spirit
teach me dear lord to live through your eyes
I'm captured by you holy calling
set me apart, I know your drawing me to yourself
lead me lord i pray

Here I am to Worship

Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness.
Opened my eyes, let me see.
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You

Here I am to worship,
Here I am to bow down,
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy,
Altogether wonderful to me

King of all days
oh, so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor

I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

A big +1 to Asleep in the Light by Keith Green and Here I am to worship.

I wish that I had the vocal range to sing Asleep in the Light. I always get a blessing when we do Here I am to worship, or on the occasions that I sing it solo.

A couple of Christian Rock songs that used to get airplay that really do it for me are Free by Elihu, Sometimes by Downpour, and Softer by Relient K.

I love to play:
Deep(way down), God of Wonders, and He Reigns.  I hope I'm spelling all this right tonight.

Never Gonna Let Go
Caedmon's Call -Joshua Moore

You've been lost in the wind
And the rain of a storm at sea
The waves crashing over your back
And you're crying out for me

But as the ocean rages
I am sleeping in the boat
But I have a plan, I'm holding your hand
And I'm keeping you afloat

I'm never gonna let go
My love for you is always true
I'm never gonna lose heart
'Cause I'm holding on tight to you
Should the cruel wind chill your soul
When the world seems out of control
I'm never gonna let go of you

The day's old, this desert is cold
And a dark cloud covers the truth
Fix your eyes on the horizon
The light is breaking through

You are my beloved child
Forever in my heart
After the fall and after it all
You're safe within my arms

Whenever you feel that you're lost in doubt
I am the way
I am the vine, you're the fruit
I am the truth and the life and the light of day

I'm never gonna let go
My love for you is always true
I'm never gonna lose heart
'Cause I'm holding on tight to you
Should the cruel wind chill your soul
When the world seems out of control
I'm never gonna let go of you

Here are a couple old ones:  Ray Boltz- Feel the Nails & Thank You for Giving to the Lord

I have a hard time keeping it together when someone sings either of those... I have never tried singing them myself... Doubt I could do it.

Basses do not "gently weep"... they will rattle the walls, lay the foundation, soothe the body and the mind, or bellow in fury as they strike you down with a bat'leth, but they do not "gently weep"...

He Reigns by the Newsboys

Listening to that song sends shivers up and down my spine.  I try to listen to it whenever I've had a particularly tough time.  It holds a special place in my heart because I have friends and family all over the world, including all the places that the song refers to (Africa, Asia, South America).  For example, when it talks about "It's the song of the redeemed rising from the African plain" I think of my close friend Steve, who is a missionary, leading worship out in the open among tribes people in Ethiopia.

But then the line that really does it for me is "And all the powers of darkness tremble at what they've just heard. 'Cause all the powers of darkness can't drown out a single word when all God's children sing out, "Glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns. He reigns, He reigns."   So, when I'm feeling down and overwhelmed I think of all those believers - my friends and their friends and family, all over the world singing - and the powers of darkness trembling.  It makes me feel better to think that I am part of all that and that the powers of darkness, which can seem so strong at times, are just whimpering and cowering in the corner in response to the power of the united believers' words of praise to the Almighty Ruler of the Universe.

Flyleaf- "All Around Me"
Talking about the experience of worship:

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Gives me shivers, it does.

+1 on He Reigns and You are My King (amazing Love)

The instrumental Lincoln Brewster does with the song "Here I Am To Worship" I think is awesome. What a great guitarist he is.

Also Chris Tomlin's [Amazing Grace (I've Been Set Free) is great.

The lyrics to the song [Lord Move, Or Move Me] by FFH decribe just how I feel alot of times so I should include it.

FFH - Lord Move, Or Move Me
From the album Found A Place

I can't find the words to pray, I'm a little down today
Can You help me, can You hold me
I feel a million miles away, and I don't know what to say
Can You hear me anyway

What I need is for You to reach out Your hand
You have taught me no matter what You'd understand

Lord move in a way that I've never seen before
'Cause there's a mountain in the way and a lock on the door
I'm drifting away, waves are crashing on the shore
So Lord move, or move me

I've looked everywhere to find a simple peace of mind
But I can't find nothin' on my own
So I gotta leave myself behind, take up this cross of mine
Give away everything I hold on to

Lord, I know the only way is through this
But Lord, I know I need You to help me do this

Out of this place of complacency
To a place of fellowship with thee
'Cause I am weak, but Lord, You are so strong
And You know it's been way too long
It's been way too long

I don't know if you've ever heard it but it brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it and sing it.

Leeland, Tears of the Saints

There are many prodigal sons
On our city streets they run
Searching for shelter
There are homes broken down
People’s hopes have fallen to the ground
From failures

This is an emergency!

There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We’re crying for them come back home
We’re crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home

There are schools full of hatred
Even churches have forsaken
Love and mercy
May we see this generation
In it’s state of desperation
For Your glory

This is an emergency!

Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children in Christ you stand!
Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children in Christ you stand!

And all Your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home

And the best one which you MUST LISTEN TO!!

Hillsong United's Version of Awesome God....I swear it transports me right to God, no matter where I am when I put it on I just start getting goose bumps and I can't help but Praise God
